The Northwestern University Sailing Team is a co-ed, student-run club sport that develops regionally and nationally competitive sailors, fosters new sailing talent, and builds a community and sense of camaraderie among undergraduate students. We compete in regattas in the Midwest and around the country during both fall and spring seasons.
We are a competitive sailing organization focused on teaching and developing talent while creating and maintaining a life-long community.
Historically, the Northwestern Sailing Team can trace back to the late 1950’s when teams practiced in downtown Chicago, until the NU boathouse was constructed on campus in 1974. Since that time the NU sailing team has ranged from a relaxed learn-to-sail program to a nationally competitive team attending numerous national championships.
